As of this writing (October 2007) anyone looking to install Zope/Plone on Ubuntu should have upgraded to Fawn a while ago. I also recommend either using Plone's Unified Installer, http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/installing-plone-3-with-the-unified-installer, or the Debian Install instructions to be found here: https://weblion.psu.edu/trac/weblion/wiki/InstallPloneOnDebian. I've had zero problems using the Unified Installer on Ubuntu Fawn. Thank you, Kevin.
